Multi-User Networked Systems
SMART runs in network mode as a client-server type system. Youll need to install Filemaker Server 7 software on your server. The SMART databases and program itself will also reside on the server. Each workstation with then require one copy of FilemakerPro 7.0 plus the SMART workstation client (see requirements for the single user system above). The Filemaker Server 7 software installs as a service on the server. The client software installs as a desktop application on each workstation. Youll need one copy of FilemakerPro 7 for each client workstation. The server will support up to 100 simultaneous users. You can buy individual copies of FilemakerPro 7 for the clients or you can get volume licensing packs starting at 10 or more seats. The system can also be installed on a Terminal Server or Citrix Server, with one machine acting as the SMART server (can share with other applications) and a separate machine hosting the Terminal services. Contact Microsoft or Citrix for details about the Terminal Server type arrangement. SMART communicates between the clients and server over your intranet or over the internet using the TCP-IP protocol. FileMaker Server 7 is Microsoft Windows® Server 2003 Standard certified.
On the server: To install and use FileMaker Server, you need a local or networked CD reader and the following minimum equipment and software.
